WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
The very talented Aida is amazing, listening to my ideas, discussing potential shapes to suit my hand and lifestyle, sourcing some incredible Argyle Chocolate Diamonds. Aida made me feel like I was part of her team, keeping me involved in the design process the whole way, showing me a detailed sketch of my ring and, once ready, personally presenting me with my official, ridiculously stunning engagement ring, handmade, one of a kind and beautifully packaged! I look at my ring constantly with pure adoration; I absolutely love it and couldn’t be happier wearing it. Thank you Aida.

The jewellery Aida from Scarab Rouge designed and made for me, far surpassed anything I could have imagined. My pendant is truly stunning! The whole process was a delight from start to finish. Aida’s creativity, professionalism and eye for detail made sure the pendant was just perfect.
- TANYA MCRAE
I think you are an amazing designer and you have designed pieces that fit me exactly, which is a rare and special gift. It is the most beautiful piece of jewellery I have ever seen in my life and I am a connoisseur! When I saw both pieces, I was moved to tears and totally blown away. I love my pieces and wouldn't part with them for any amount of money. Thanks again, Aida.

OUR MATERIALS
At Scarab Rouge, we select diamonds based on the 4Cs that represent outstanding beauty combined with true value.
Our Russian cut diamonds, mined from the diamond veins close to the Arctic Circle, possess an unparalleled clearness and the carat weight is often sacrificed for a beautiful, correctly proportioned stone, displaying brilliance, fire and scintillation to its best advantage.
Carat:
The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. The name comes from a carob bean which was used to weigh diamonds in the past.
One carat is equal to 0.20gms.
Cut:
The cut is of critical importance as this determines a diamond’s symmetry and balance to achieve optimum brilliance and sparkle.
Colour:
The colour is rated by the GIA on a scale from D to Z in alphabetical order, where D indicates exceptional white and Z is tinted colour.
Clarity:
The clarity is also rated by the GIA on a scale from IF (Internally Flawless) through VVSI,VVS2, VSI,VS2 where there are very small inclusions invisible to the naked eye, right through to SI1,SI2 and I1,I2,I3 where there are inclusions visible to the naked eye.
Platinum is the strongest of jewellery metals, has a cool white sheen which accentuates the sparkle and brilliance of a diamond. A scratch may leave a mark, but it will not readily chip or splinter. It will develop a patina of wear, which can always be returned to a high shine with professional polishing. High quality Platinum is usually 95% pure, alloyed with 5% palladium, iridium, ruthenium or other alloys. Hallmarks are 950 Plat or Plat.
Palladium is a naturally white metal, hypoallergenic, will not tarnish and is lighter in weight than Platinum. Along with Platinum, Palladium is one of the rarest metals in the world and is a member of the Platinum Group Metals. Both metals have a remarkable ability to withstand corrosion and oxidation.
Palladium does not require alloy metals for protection, is extremely durable, and remains white in colour.
Gold has unique qualities and an extraordinary heritage, is resistant to rust, tarnish and corrosion. Gold is the most malleable of all the metals, and so is alloyed with a mixture of other metals for strength and durability, such as silver, copper, nickel and zinc.
Gold’s purity is denoted in Karatage, with:
- 24k is pure gold, which is too soft for jewellery
- 22k = 91.7% gold, is also too soft for jewellery
- 18k = 75% gold, is ideal for jewellery
- 14k = 58.5% gold
- 9k = 37.5% gold
The colour of gold is determined by two factors:
1. The type of metal alloys included; and
2. The percentage of each metal alloy.
Generally,
- Yellow gold is alloyed with a mixture of copper and silver
- White gold is yellow gold alloyed with a silver and nickel mixture,
often plated with rhodium for extra whiteness. - Rose gold is yellow gold alloyed with copper
Sterling silver, consists of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, which improves pure silver’s hardness without affecting it’s beautiful whiteness.
Hallmarks include “sterling”, “sterling silver”, “ster” and .925, and must be accompanied by a maker’s mark or registered trademark.
